Beach Waves and Business Systems: When DIY Isn’t Enough

Most days, I can handle things myself.

Yes, I can condition my hair, spritz on heat protector, spend 30 minutes with a hairdryer and finish with the straighteners for a vague attempt at beachy waves.

And I do do that. Most days, it’s fine.

But even when I follow every step, it never looks like it does when I walk out of the salon. And I definitely don’t feel the same.

It doesn’t last. I end up redoing it the next day. And no matter how many tutorials I watch, it never quite hits the mark.

When it really matters - a work event, a wedding, a big day - I go to an expert.

Someone who knows exactly what I want. Who’s done it a hundred times. Who delivers a result that works first time, lasts, and makes me feel great.

Because it’s not just about following the steps. It’s about doing them in the right order and knowing what to do when something unexpected crops up.

You can’t skip sectioning your hair and expect the blow dry to hold. And if the nozzle breaks halfway through, or the curls fall flat - a pro’s already got a plan B.

So what does this have to do with business?

A lot more than you might think.

You see, I hear this all the time:

“Surely we can manage our own projects and processes — it’s just a set of tasks, right?”

Well… not quite.

The same way you could try to recreate a salon blow dry yourself, you could try to manage that project or set up that system solo. But will it hold up under pressure? Will it actually last? And will you feel good about it afterwards?

Probably not - unless you’ve done it a hundred times and know every pitfall to watch for.

This is where I come in.

Not for hair. (Although I do know a brilliant stylist!) But for business clarity. For projects. For systems. For getting the important stuff done properly  and done in the right order.
